Schoolwork only.

The chat is an AI tutor, not a human educator. It stays on the assignment you set. It supplements the work of a teacher or tutor. It does not replace it. It is not therapy and not diagnostic.

It stays on the assignment

You or a real tutor set the lane: subject, topic, and how long the tutoring session may run. Starlit does not turn into a general chat. If a student wanders off the work, it points them back.

A pause when it isn't schoolwork

If a tutoring session has to stop, the student sees “Let's pause here.” and an OK button. We do not counsel in the chat. You get a silent flag. The student is not told that you were notified.

Students under 13

Starlit complies with COPPA. For students under 13, a parent creates and manages the profile. We don't sell student data, and we don't use tutoring sessions to train AI models.

Children under 13 cannot create their own accounts.

Photo of the work

A photo of the work is schoolwork only. Help with the page in front of them. No face. No ID. The image is ephemeral. The coach never gets the file.

What you see

Parents and coaches see summaries, not transcripts. After you cancel, we delete student profiles and data in 14 days.

Two short lists. What we keep for the account and the tutoring session, and what we never do with student work.

We collect

  • The parent or coach account
  • The student profile an adult sets
  • Enough from the tutoring session for a short summary
  • An optional photo of schoolwork (Help with the page in front of them) when allowed

We don't

  • Ad profiles or sold student data
  • Full chat transcripts for coaches (summaries only)
  • Face photos, ID, or meds
  • Tutoring content to train AI models
