Who we are

Starlit is an AI tutoring service. Questions about this policy go to privacy@starlitlearning.com.

What we collect

When you create an account we store your email, name, and billing role (parent or coach).

For each student profile we store a first name, grade (3 through 12, or college), subjects you allow, optional intake answers, and optional notes you write for the AI tutor. Session records hold a short how-it-went summary, not a full chat transcript for parents or coaches.

You may upload a worksheet, IEP, 504, or report card for academic scope. We extract the words once. You confirm them. Then the file bytes are deleted. That upload is not a student folder.

Payments are processed by Stripe. Starlit does not store your full card number.

Children under 13

Starlit complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. Children under 13 cannot create their own accounts. A parent or guardian must consent before that student can use the app, including when a coach assigns work. Parents may review, update, or delete their child's data at any time by contacting privacy@starlitlearning.com.

Under-13 data is not used for advertising or model training. We do not sell, share, or disclose children's personal information to third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

How we use data

We use this information to run tutoring sessions on the subjects and topics you set, to send the Friday note if you want it, and to process payment. We do not sell student data. We do not use student data to train AI.

Tutoring replies are generated by xAI Grok on the server. The browser does not call the model vendor and does not hold the API key.

After you cancel

After you cancel, we delete student profiles and session data in 14 days. That includes profiles, handles, chips, how-it-went digests, chat personal information, uploads, speech-to-text, and coach roster links. Deleting one child profile by hand is immediate. Access continues through the period you already paid for.
